Ready to Use
DESCRIPTION Sansin Foundation is a ready to use, penetrating prefinish for both interior and exterior wood surfaces that protects against discoloration and keeps wood looking clear crisp and natural. Apply to surfaces such as timbers, logs and dimensional lumber. Foundation will protect wood surfaces from weathering for 6 months during the construction phase after which simply wash and apply a top coat system without additional extensive preparation. Foundation will provide a superior clear finish, that stabilizes the wood tissue and lignin against UV degradation. The deep penetrating solids of Foundation will bond with the wood tissue permanently to increase the dimensional stability of the wood component, reducing checks and erratic movement by evening the evaporation of moisture. Foundation provides neutral water repellency increasing the wood surfaces natural resistance to moisture without causing adhesion or penetration issues with top coats. Consider, SDF, ENS or Purity Interior finishes as top coat finishes with Foundation protected substrates.
APPLICATIONS
The application of Sansin Foundation is suggested as a first coat on bare prepared wood substrates such as logs, timbers and wood joinery products subject to weathering. Sansin Foundation is intended as a permanent finish that should be applied to clean porous substrates in a factory setting in accordance with Directions for Use.

PACKAGING
Available in 5 US gallon containers or 50 US gallon drums and totes.
PREPARATION
For application to new clean consistently porous wood surfaces
Inspect wood surface for defects
Remove mill glaze by sanding appropriately or blasting (60 grit exterior, 120 grit interior)
Fresh draw knifing and adzing are effective methods of preparing logs and timber for application of Foundation
Ensure that application is done immediately afterwards, on the same day and to a dry wood surface

LIQUID PREPARATION
For concentrate formula add one part water
to one part Foundation (do not add
Foundation to Water)
Or add Foundation to basin before adding
equal part water
Mix liquid in the basin well before usage
Remove liquid from basin when not used or
seal basin tightly
APPLICATION METHODS
Vacuum system (pressure treating)

Ensure a flood application in all
circumstances; apply to the point of refusal
for maximum protection.
COVERAGE
300 sq/ft/US gallon. Coverage through saturation
should be achieved. Coverage will range from 100-
300 sq/ft (9.3-18.6 sq.m.) per US gallon on rough
sawn surfaces.
STORAGE
Store at a temperature of between +2°C and 25°C
(36°F and 77°F). Keep containers tightly closed.

WARNING TO USERS
Keep out of reach of children, if swallowed
immediately drink two glasses of milk or warm
water. Do not induce vomiting. Call physician
immediately. Avoid contact with skin or eyes; flush
with soap and water. Avoid breathing of vapor or
mist. Wear a properly fitted NIOSH approved
respirator.
